There is truly no other television show like The Masked Singer. Fox’s craziest singing competition show has it all: the down-for-anything celebrities, the nail-biting suspense, and, best of all, the most wild (and kind of disturbing) costumes we’ve ever seen.
For real though, have you ever noticed how intricate the get-ups are? The Masked Singer‘s costume designer Marina Toybina goes to town creating all of the unique characters. Earlier this year, Marina told Good Housekeeping that building the costumes is a two-and-a-half month process that involves lots of foam and paint.
Lucky for us though, replicating the looks isn’t quite so difficult or time consuming. While there are definitely some that are a bit more involved than others, many the costumes are doable with a little patience and hard work. If your goal is to be the Monster in particular, Fox has shared with us an exclusive video (above!) of how you can D.I.Y. your own costume in just a few short steps.

Here’s what you need to recreate some of the most popular Masked Singer characters that you love oh-so much:
The Night Angel (Kandi Burruss)
What is a “night angel,” you ask? It’s a great question that doesn’t exactly have an answer, making the season 3 winner a bit tougher to DIY. That said, if you keep on buying as much shiny purple attire as you can find and layer it all up, you’ll be looking like the most recent Masked Singer champion in no time.
What You’ll Need:
The Rhino (Barry Zito)

Mimicking this odd-toed ungulate shouldn’t be too terribly difficult — that is, as long as you can find a reasonably priced Rhino mask. Once that’s purchased, then it’s a matter of locating a pair of old-school flying goggles, grabbing an old leather coat out of the closet, throwing on some gloves and cargo shorts, and boom.

Thanks to the ever-popular Jurassic Park movies, there are plenty of T-Rex costumes, onesies, and head pieces across the internet. Likewise, there isn’t a shortage of Renaissance-era costumes, so you’re all set there. Put the two together and voilà!

The truth is, unless you’re an Emmy-winning costume designer yourself, it’s going to be pretty much impossible to recreate Kitty’s gorgeous pink showgirl getup. But don’t be dispurraged — you can still capture Kitty’s vibe with some glittery booties, champagne-colored gloves, and a pink boa.
What You’ll Need:

Want to be the unstoppable Kangaroo? Easy peasy. You’re literally only a kangaroo onesie, set of boxing gloves, and red robe away. Throw in the wrestling shoes for extra bonus points (but, really, any white tennis shoes will do).

Like Kitty, you may have to use your imagination a bit with Teddy. After securing a Care Bears-like head costume, bright pink faux fur is your best friend. What You’ll Need:
The Peacock (Donny Osmond)
With the Peacock, you have some options. First off, there are many different peacock costumes across the internet.

From there, it’s all a matter of adding on a few essentials: a sequin vest, pair of peacock wings, royal blue leggings, and a bird mask. If you’re not finding a costume you love online though, you can always start with a glitzy blue cocktail dress and add your accessories from there.
What You’ll Need:
The Lion (Rumer Willis)

Thankfully, there’s a good handful of gold lion masks on the internet that make this costume surprisingly not impossible. Once you have the mask, it’s time to work 👏 that 👏 hot 👏 glue 👏 gun. Bedazzle the head piece with all the rhinestones your heart desires to get that iconic queen-of-the-jungle bling. As for the lion’s mane, consider buying a Bon Jovi-esque wig and tousling it with some hair spray for some extra-fabulous volume.
What You’ll Need:
Once all of that is done, then it’s simply a matter of pairing your wig and mask with a gold shirt and trousers and calling it a day! If you want to be even more accurate though, add a gold cape, some metallic pumps, and shiny gloves for a finishing touch.
The Monster (T-Pain)
In all honesty, you’ll probably have to use your imagination a bit with the Monster. The way we see it, you can go two ways here. The first option includes purchasing a Monsters Inc.-inspired onesie, filling it out with bubble wrap, and sticking a giant googly eye around the chest area (again, imagination is key here).

For the mouth, you can use different colored felt to create the two buck teeth and purple smile. If the onesie really isn’t your thing, try buying a teal-colored dress and a set of horns, instead. Then, it’s simply a matter of sticking the big googly eye on the front, hot-gluing your felt teeth and mouth on, wearing a pair of blue leggings, and voilà! Did we mention using your imagination?
What You’ll Need:
The Poodle (Margaret Cho)
If the mask part seems daunting to you, do not panic. Thanks to the wonderfully creative vendors on Etsy, you can easily download instructions on how to fold and glue your way to a geometric puppy mask.

Once the mask is created, you can trace the fold lines and color in the eyes and nose with a black permanent marker. The easiest way to tackle the hair and ears? Buy a George Washington-style wig and dip the ends in pink fabric dye. Once those DIY tasks are done, you just need to find a black-and-white-striped dress, white booties, glitter gloves, some faux fur accessories, and … Ms. Poodle is that you?!
What You’ll Need:
The Rabbit (Joey Fatone)
Compared to the other characters, the Rabbit is probably the easiest to recreate. The hardest part, of course, will be creating the DIY Rabbit mask — but as long as you follow the instructions, you should be a-okay.

From there, it’s just a matter of locating a white jacket you love, some thick white gloves, and a pair of white cargo pants (remember when those were big?!).

The Hippo (Antonio Brown)
The hippo might be extra tricky if you opt to DIY your own card stock mask and paper hat. Still, the end result and feeling of accomplishment will totally be worth it. After you secure your hat to your mask with a bit of glue, the most challenging part will be over.

Next comes shopping (or digging in your closet) for an oversized t-shirt, red pants, black gloves, and a silver puffer jacket. If you want to go the extra mile, you can also buy a slick pair of metallic go-go boots.

Bee Halloween costumes are not hard to find. But to make your bee costume THE Bee from The Masked Singer, you’ll want a few extra accessories, such as yellow-and-black googles, black lipstick, and Maleficent-inspired horns.

The Alien (La Toya Jackson)
For the most out-of-this-world costume, the Alien requires a bit of face-painting skills. Of course, you could always find an alien mask on Amazon and call it a day. But to make yourself look even more like the show’s extraterrestrial, consider buying an alien antenna headband and painting your face greenish-yellow and the eye area a pinkish red.

Once that’s done, you’ll just need a red unitard, sparkly cape, silver booties, and fun duct tape to create the details on the Alien’s suit.

What makes the Deer different from any other deer costume? The gas mask, for sure. Starting with one of those, add the antlers, a dark brown coat, faded red scarf, and some armor gloves. Easy peasy.

Even though you might need quite a few things to assemble this outfit, you’ll be the Pineapple’s twin by the end. Starting with a pineapple mask, you can hot glue some huge sunglasses on it to make your fruit head more inviting.

No red sauce near this all-white ensemble! Thanks to the nifty DIY unicorn mask you can snag on Etsy, this costume is relatively easy to pull off.

Basically, gather all the white clothing you may own (a wrap skirt, gloves, etc.), add a braided wig and some sequin leggings. Just like that, you’ll be as mystical as Tori was.

At first glance, the Raven is a bit of a beast. But with a few simple pieces, you’ll look like the creature in no time.
