Once September rolls around, it’s all about Halloween — we’re talking everything from pumpkin carving, Halloween crafts and popular costumes to haunting home decor. Each year brings a slew of fresh trends, especially when it comes to decorating for spooky season. Last year was filled with unexpected color palettes, pumpkins galore and animatronic skeletons that are equally as popular for 2024.
You probably have a collection of Halloween decorations in storage, but this year’s Halloween decor releases are way too frightening — and adorable — to pass up. Retailers, like The Home Depot, West Elm and HomeGoods, are known for their holiday home decor and Halloween fanatics eagerly wait until stores are stocked with the latest collections. We turned to product experts to find out what’s trending in Halloween decor and determine the new releases you should shop ASAP.
Witch-Inspired Decor
Embrace a witchy aesthetic with crystals, cauldrons, hanging witch hats and eerie black accents that bring an enchanting, mystical air to your home. “Witch-inspired decor remains ever popular, but with more intricate designs that blend mysticism and modern flair,” says Beth Smith, managing director of Terrain. “This year’s Halloween decor takes spooky elegance to a new level with standout pieces — like the black vine witch hat — that balance tradition with innovation.”
There’s also the viral floating candles, inspired by Harry Potter, that are all over TikTok. The flameless candles are hung with fishing line and the included “magic” wand switches them on and off.
“Pinkoween” and Retro-Inspired Pieces
Forget the traditional fall color palette, we’re celebrating “Pinkoween” this year. Imagine pink ghosts, pumpkins, skeletons and more. “Pinkoween appeals to those who love the holiday but prefer a more colorful, feminine or pastel vibe, rather than the usual dark and eerie tones,” says Amanda Nichols, trend and design expert at Michaels. “Our Hippie Hallow collection quickly went viral for breaking away from the classic orange and black palette and incorporating unexpected sunset hues and ’70s-inspired patterns and motifs.”
“You might not expect wicker bats, ceramic ghosts, florals and stripes to go well together, but when they’re all in shades of pink, it’s a match made in Halloween heaven,” adds Keiko Lynn, HomeGoods Featured Finder.
Oversized Animatronic, Namely Skeletons
No one does frightening animatronics like The Home Depot. The brand’s collection of poseable skeletons, realistic animatronics and giant-sized decorations garner excitement among Halloween enthusiasts year after year. “The 12-foot giant-sized Skelly remains a fan favorite, and this year, he’s joined by Skelly’s dog for even more impact,” says Lance Allen, senior product merchant of decorative holiday for The Home Depot.
Other standout pieces include the Levitating Reaper, Knight Dullahan and Frankenstein’s Monster. “These new releases bring advanced technology like servo motors and LED lighting, adding extra realism to their already impressive size and design.”

The Viral Icon Juice Glasses From Anthropologie
Influencers on TikTok are obsessed with collecting Anthropologie’s juice glasses, which are now available with Halloween icons including candy corns, black cats and skulls. “This year, our mystic icon juice glasses have been flying off the shelves since their release last month,” says Katherine Finder, chief merchandising officer of AnthroLiving. Finder sees customers gravitating toward tableware — think spooky appetizer plates, festive serveware and crow candle holders.
Spooky Creatures, Like Bats and Spiders
It’s not all about cheerful Halloween decor, chilling accents are popular, too. Think wicker bats, spider candle holders and plenty of lace fabrics that resemble creepy spider webs. “Our collection of new black lace entertaining is expected to be in high demand this fall, adding a hauntingly chic touch to any Halloween gathering, blending style and festivity in perfect harmony,” says Smith from Terrain.
Everything “Wednesday” Addams
Last year, we saw a ton of Wednesday Addams costumes, but Pottery Barn takes it a step further with a Wednesday-inspired collection featuring character-shaped pillows, spider-webbed welcome mats and even replicas of icons from the series. There’s the iconic disembodied hand, Thing, a light-up raven and a recreation of the Nevermore Academy.
