Starbucks' New Holiday Cups Are Glittery and Delightfully Iridescent

Starbucks’ new Holiday 2020 collection is landing in stores this weekend, along with the chain’s signature line of holiday drinks.
The new line of Starbucks’ holiday cups and mugs include a glitter-filled “swirl” cold brew cup that is red, green and pink. Fans can also expect a signature Venti-sized “grid” textured cup as well.
Starbucks’ disposable paper cups are back for the holidays too, featuring four new seasonal designs.
Customers can receive a free reusable Starbucks holiday coffee cup at participating cafés (and through delivery) by ordering a holiday coffee beverage on November 6.

While the holiday season is shaping up to look and feel very different this year, at least one thing will remain the same — our favorite Starbucks hot lattes and holiday-esque coffee drinks. And Starbucks aficionados around the country are just as anxious for a new collection of Christmas merchandise at their local cafés. The wait is over, though, as a Starbucks representative tells Good Housekeeping that new cups, mugs and holiday gifts are due in stores across the country this weekend. The new merchandise comes with Starbucks’ return to offering signature holiday coffee beverages like the Peppermint Mocha and Creme Brûlée latte. Believe it or not, Starbucks already revealed most of its new collection back in September.

This season, you’ll be able to sip on a piping hot cocoa or peppermint mocha from a slew of new mugs and tumblers, all decked out in style. Even those who don’t pick up a reusable cup will be able to enjoy a punch of festivity thanks to Starbucks’ new reusable holiday cups, designed with a new mantra in mind for 2020: “Carry the merry.” Those who order a special holiday coffee beverage at Starbucks tomorrow, November 6, can even receive a free limited edition reusable coffee cup that is similarly designed.

We’ve known Starbucks to adorn disposable cups with illustrations and plenty of red and green hues over the holidays, and this year is no different. But they’ve taken an updated approach to their new merchandise; you’ll find plenty of vibrant pastels, ombré color schemes and even another trendy textured cup in an irresistible shade of bubblegum pink.
We’d venture a guess that the most highly anticipated new holiday cup of the season is the “swirl” cold cup that is lined with plenty of glitter. The pink, green, and red colors blend together across the cup, which comes equipped with a pastel pink lid and straw, retailing for $18.95. You’ll also be able to find a new take on Starbucks’ ultra popular “grid” cold cup in a bright jewel pink hue (sensing a theme?!), an alluring finish that isn’t quite iridescent as it is shiny. It’s retailing for $19.95.

The cold brew cups and themed tumblers tend to sell out first, often resulting in third-party resellers reselling the limited edition merchandise at a high mark up (the case for Halloween cups). If you aren’t able to get your hands on a cold cup, you’ll have better luck with new mugs and water bottles. There’s a new iridescent rainbow mug that can hold 8 ounces of your favorite coffee sold for $16.95, which may be found at cafés inside Target, too. But there’s also an iridescent pink-turned-purple coffee tumbler, which can hold more hot coffee (20 ounces to be exact!), that’ll show up in Starbucks cafés only, retailing for $27.95. Plus, you’ll find holiday-themed coffee blends, too, including a 2002 Christmas Blend as well as a Holiday Blend bag (great gifts for coffee lovers).
It’s unclear if Starbucks plans to release all of its merchandise to its cafés and offsite Target locations equally. Some social users are sharing evidence that there may be even more holiday cups and mugs we don’t know about just yet. Grangville Market, an Instagram account based in Vancouver known for its merchandise sneak peeks, has shared snapshots of a sequin-themed cold brew cup that could also be part of the 2020 holiday line up.
