When it comes to kids and Santa Claus, especially as they get older, Little Elf Judy in The Santa Clause aptly sums it up: “Seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing.” Kids want proof. Though we’re supposed to take Judy’s quote abstractly, the Capture the Magic app, available for iOS and Android, makes “seeing” Santa Claus a little easier. The app is like a little security cam, capable of snapping photos of Santa in the act, right in your very own living room.
Okay, maybe it’s not a photo of the real Santa — of course that one is too fast and magical to be captured on a smartphone — but it looks pretty darn convincing. Once you download the app, you can choose from a variety of Santa poses, add a holiday overlay and edit by adding a blur or adjusting the brightness so everything looks seamless. Then you pay (the prices is determined by how many add-ons like “stickers” you’ve used), download and voila — digital proof that Santa, was, in fact, there in the flesh.

Capture the Magic isn’t the only site of its kind: I Caught Santa, also available for iOS and Android, allows you to do the same type of editing for free right from your smart phone. It’s got the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny, too. You can try out both sites and see which one has the photographic proof your kids will find most convincing.
But why stop at just photos? A few other sites offer a little bit more personalization and interaction. If seeing is believing, what is hearing and talking? Portable North Pole goes one step further and, like an arctic Cameo, lets Santa record a personalized video message for your kids. Or, for something a little more low-key, kids can call Santa’s Magic Phone, and the Big Man will answer. (That’s a good option for kids who procrastinated a little too much with their letters to the North Pole.) With all of these at a parent’s disposable, all doubts will be staved off — at least for another year.
